Pond Ramblings

For this group of photos you're going to wish I had a decent zoom lens on my camera.  Be prepared to click and enlarge these and maybe find a magnifying glass for additional help!

See MamaDog sitting on the bank?  What does she see?

In the middle of the photo, right in front of the grass in the water, there is a small beaver.  He turned and went the other way once he realized MamaDog was on the bank watching him.  He's making quite a wake behind him!

Here is where the beaver lives.  We can pull the boat in and fish all around the lodge.  We're not sure exactly how many live there.

Can you see the tiny little birds sitting on the top branch of the dead tree?
Good fishing spot!

This one is much harder to see.  Try looking at the dead limb right in the middle of the photo that looks almost as if it's lying on the edge of the grass.  You might be able to make out the grayish bird sitting on it, almost in the water lilies.

I bet you can see this one just fine!  Suzy and MamaDog have been terrible this year about trying to swim out to us while we are fishing.  They have ruined more good spots for us in the process!!  Suzy got all tangled in the grass one evening so I felt sorry for her and dragged her into the boat with us.  Nasty!  On this occasion we just waved her on.  She easily made it to the bank where she proceeded to shake and roll (but not rattle).

I'm sorry my photography is so poor.
It doesn't do justice to the beauty at our pond.

What a great place for a dog to live! Your photos are awesome. I bet y'all have lots of dragonflies and mosquitoes!

My most treasured possession is now my Canon Rebel EOS T2i with three lenses. I don't know how I ever existed without it. (I told Ray it was my diamond ring. LOL!) You need to tell Santa you want one for Christmas. LOL! Great post, Kelly.

Love & Blessings,
Marion

Well my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be but I could make most of the photos out ok!

What a beautiful spot! I really want to fish in our lake (man made one) outside our house in AZ, but no one else wants to! My partner gets all squeamish. :D

Marion - Oh, yeah! Lots of dragonflies! Hmmm...too many mosquitoes. Those drangonflies better get busy! I'd probably be a disaster with a good camera. Point and click is more my speed, LOL!

Pamel - The beavers are fun 'til they start damaging stuff. At least they don't eat fish! (like otters...but I have the proof of what happens to them)

Joey - Actually, we built this lake ourselves. It's fed, though, by a couple of creeks (tiny streams) when it rains. Talk one of your kids into going fishing with you! Btw...hope the fires in AZ aren't near your area. Y'all headed that direction anytime soon?

Please ask for a zoom lens for your birthday or Christmas!! You have such neat stuff to photograph.

And when you said pond, I always thought of it smaller. This seems like a lake to me. A pond seems like something you can take a photo of and get the whole thing in!

I am so blind, all I could see were the dogs!LOL! One of my doxies fell in my goldfish pond the other day-you should have seen here face! She's a city dog though and doesn't know about ponds!

Jenners - Yes, it's a pretty big pond. When there's been rain and it's full it's a good 15 acres or better. Of course a lot of that is very shallow, but the fish still lurk there!

John - Ha! You know...I've been pretty amazed at just how good the fishing is. I've gotten spoiled! :)

MS Artist - Oh no! Doxies aren't exactly built for swimming, either! Poor girlie! At least ours get in on purpose. A way to cool off!

What a treat to live close to a pond--always lots of activity going on there I am sure. What a big beaver lodge! I know I always want my shots to be closer, but it is hard to do without a "super duper" zoom lens. I enjoyed your "walk around the pond". Have a great weekend. Mickie :)

Betty - Considering what lovely photos you always post, thank you for the compliment!

Mickie - I think our pond is one of the most peaceful places on earth! I truly feel blessed. :)
