A quick update on a post from earlier in the month...
My lone angelfish is thriving (so far!). In fact, it spends more time out on display now than it does hiding. I should know from past experience that angels like to be solitary creatures.
We've taken a couple of spins on the pond this week. The fish aren't biting that well, but I did manage to catch a few (including a big one!). At least I remembered my camera and got some photos this time. The first will appear in my SSS entry this weekend.
The cicadas are STILL singing at full blast. They sound like they've changed location a bit, but they're still at it. I've seen several clinging to the window screen when I've opened my bedroom blinds in the mornings. I've also seen a number of carcasses littering the yard. I even had one bean me right between the eyes when I was out scooping poop in the backyard last week!

They live for what? 7 weeks before they go underground again for 13 years?
I've now had 2 Molly suicides and the goldfish attempted suicide.
The PetSmart fish dude told me to tape a baggie over the opening in the aquarium hood where they are leaping to their death. Said it also prevents dust from getting into the tank.
So far, so good with the newbies.
I did not know that about angelfish. Are they easy to look after? Failing to talk Hd into getting a cat I'm now beginning to think along the lines of fish but what something a bit more exotic, and hopefully longer living, than goldfish.
Pamel - I've seen both 4 weeks and 5 weeks. Seems like these have been hollering for a good 4 already! I'm afraid it's their "swansong", too. I believe they'll die and it will be their progeny that emerge 13 years from now.
Tracy - I'll admit that keeping fish can be as stressful as it is relaxing. I've experience more than my share of deaths! And though I prefer tropicals over goldfish, I had a friend who had a goldfish that lived something like 15 years or more!
We had tropical fish, but I found it hard to keep them alive, plus I was the only one who cleaned out the fish tank. Angelfish are beautiful.
In the last week, we have had some cicada noise! Still pretty "gentle", so I guess we get some part of the cycle. EEEWWW on the carcasses.
Pamel... hope the trick that the pet shop person told you about prevents more fish sturm and drang at your house!

Feed Angel Fish Cicadas--and bubbles will come out of it's butt every 13 years! I heard that!
I wanns see da Beeg fishy!

Joey - Yes, that cleaning part is no fun.
Quid - Ah, such is life (or death!).
John - LOL! The cicadas are actually about the same size as my angel, if not bigger!
Oh...and John, the pic my husband took didn't do me OR the fish justice, so it won't be posted! I'm guessing it was between 4 and 5 pounds. I really need to start using that de-liar.
We have cicadas like CRAZY here! They fly in your face and in your hair and they are so LOUD -- and their empty shells are everywhere. Every 13 years it happens.
Those cicada carcasses are something, aren't they? They look like they were left by alien beings or something.
