Rottweilers

Six months have passed since we lost our Esther girl and I still miss her. I'll try not to look at the wall calendar in the kitchen next week where her birthday is still noted in red. A friend sent me a link over the weekend to a wonderful article about a Rottweiler honored in England for saving a woman from an attacker. Click here if you would like to read the story. I love seeing Rottweilers portrayed in a positive light!

I miss having a Rottie in the house. *sigh*

Six dogs are enough for now, but someday I'll have another Rottweiler. That's a promise.

It is nice to see positive press for breeds that have "bad" reputations.

Sorry you are missing your Esther .... but I do think 6 dogs might be enough.

I've loved all your precious Rotties! ALL house dogs and gentle giants!!

My breed of choice, of course, are Shelties. I miss my 2 boys I lost this year each and every day. Every time I look at Mr. Spanky I see them in the back of my mind and full on in my heart!

One of the great injustices in this life is that our dogs' lives are far too short. I've shed many a tear in their memory.
I feel for you. Take care.

A wonderful tribute to Esther.

I must have missed this article. As you say it's good to see these dogs being given some good publicity. I can remember a time when the press labelled them Devil Dogs.

Like Boonie and yourself, I have shed many a tear over our canine companions so know just how you feel.

Jenners - I've learned that what I think doesn't always matter. Two would be enough, but sometimes things happen you have no control over.

Pamel - It was a rough year for dogs in our family, wasn't it!

Boonie - I agree. They just don't live long enough!! But maybe that just allows us more opportunities to love (and be loved by) more dogs.

Tracy - I've had friends and relatives that referred to my rotties as "devil dogs"!! Like I would really have raised my kids in the same house with vicious dogs!

I have heard several awful stories about rottweilers, but the only one I have ever known was so peaceful that often you didn´t notice her until you stumbled over her on the floor :D

With large, strong dogs it is so important who the owner is, however.

Dorte - I agree with you about needing to have good control of large dogs. Actually, that goes for all pets. Mine might not always be the most well-behaved, but if I think they will "bother" people (as in jump on them or be a nuisance) I keep them in another room while guests visit. I try never to impose my dogs on others. Not everyone loves dogs like I do.

I know you miss your pooch, Kelly. They're like a member of the family. I can't imagine what I'll do with Ray when Cody's time comes to cross the Rainbow Bridge. (I still miss Ramone and hope to one day have another Siamese....but...I have 6 cats now, all rescued strays).

Your pets are lucky to have you. Love & Blessings!

Marion - My daughter looked out the back window of her apartment this week and saw someone walking their Siamese on a leash!! The thought of a cat on a leash always makes me laugh!

6 is enough!

I love Rotties, and Chico, my granddog is part Rottie.

You sisters have had a rotten year for dogs. I feel so badly for you.
But, out of the ashes....
