The Queen's Birthday!

Queen Esther, that is. She and her brother JJ were part of a large litter of Rottweiler puppies born on October 6, 1999 to “Lady Bug” and “Jack the Ripper”. I had to look back at her registration to remember who her sire and dam were, but I never forget when she was born! Many of you know we lost JJ to cancer when he was only five years old, but Esther is still going strong. In fact, she’s now a year older than our first rottie (Angus) was when he died (also of cancer).

I feel lucky to have snapped this nice photo of her today. She normally exits the room quickly when she sees a camera in my hand. Maybe it was the promise of extra treats that made her cooperate.

Happy 10th Birthday, Esther!!!

Yes, Happy Brthday - we always celebrated our cats and the dog's birthday. As we don't have any children they were my babies, sadly none of them with us anymore.

Hi Kelly - that's a very healthy looking dog!
I came over to respond to your comments about the post on my blog about the book market.
I agree that some books are far too expensive. I was pleased when my publisher launched Cut Short as a £6.99 paperback (£5.49 on amazon). Had it come out in hardback, for £17.99, as my publisher considered, I wouldn't have invited all my friends to the launch party. I write a cracking good story, but it's not the complete works of Shakespeare! Do you think some publishers encourage people to buy second hand books because the price of new books is too high?

It's a beautiful picture, Kel and a beautiful dog, who obviously means a lot to you. In answer to Leigh Russell's question above, new books are far too pricey. Thus, I'm in the second hand market a lot.
