Betty

August 28, 1999 ~
January 20, 2010

Saying goodbye, no matter what the circumstances, is the hardest part about loving a pet. I said goodbye to our beloved Betty this afternoon. As I had mentioned in an earlier post, her health was declining. Last night was a bad night for her and although she didn't seem to be in pain, she obviously wasn't her usual self today.

I carried her to the vet's office this afternoon. After a brief consultation I decided it was best to put her down. It was a difficult decision.

They gave me a few minutes alone with her to say goodbye. I told her how much I loved her and thought I was doing the best thing for her. I reminded her that she would soon be with Veronica again....and JJ, Angus, Daisy Mae, Hope, and Bella.

I don't like playing God and making decisions like this. I miss her.

I love you, Sis! My heart aches and I've shed tears for both of us in the past hour.

I know exactly what you'r feeling right now. It does suck and it hurts really bad.

I'll miss sweet Betty Too. There are 3 new furry family members waiting on the Rainbow Bridge for the sibs in our family. It's been a sad week for all of us.

I'm so sorry you lost your pretty Betty. It's so sad. I'll send you a big hug and a sincere 'poor baby'. Our Cody has been limping and barfing all day, poor thing. It's so hard when they're sick. Take care. Love & Blessings!!

I'm so sorry Kelly!

I get tears in my eyes even thinking about the day we either put Weasley down or he crawls up under my parents bed...

It's been a sad week for dogs, with Pammy's, my friend rylee's dog (16 years old!) and now yours.

My friend thought it was stupid for being so upset over "just a dog", but I told her it wasn't stupid. Pet's are like children and siblings to a family.

This is so very sad. This is one of the hardest things we ever have to do. Coming on top of Pam's loss, it makes me well up. My heart goes out to you, Kel.

So, so sorry about Betty. What a beautiful picture and I hope warm memories will comfort you. She was obviously a great dog.

Sad sad sad. In addition to this and Pam's loss I also understand Nick had a loss. Weasley just went to the vet and is in good health at age 6 1/2. Knock on wood.

Kelly I have not been on here in the longest time but after browsing through oxy for a while I thought I would take a peek at your blog, only to find that you lost poor Betty. I am so so sorry that is a decison you had to make. I know how hard it is. It was a year for Tyler on the 12th. I hope your pain is starting to ease. Take care. Lin

Dear Kelly, Lin told me about Betty's passing. I am so incredibly sorry to hear it. It has been over 2 years since I had to have Arthur the beagle put down; I still miss him every day. Pets are amazing family members, and it's always so sad to say goodbye when the time comes -- I don't think you can ever be prepared! Again, I am so sorry for your loss. Take care. -Tammy in NC
