Personal Puzzle

My sister gave me the neatest gift for Christmas. Knowing that I really enjoy jigsaw puzzles, she got me one that is a picture of where I live! No, not an actual picture, but a puzzle made from the U.S. Geological Survey map of where my home is located.

Despite the fact it's only 400 pieces, measuring 18-1/2 by 12-1/4 inches, I think it's going to be a fairly difficult puzzle. I have no picture to go by and since I live in a rural area, there aren't a lot of distinguishing city landmarks to assist me. I've started working on it and there sure is a lot of green!

The puzzle covers an area of 4 x 6 miles with my home address as the center. They even make the center piece in the shape of a little house! While setting up and starting on the border, I managed to find my "house" and a couple of the pieces that adjoin it. You can click on these photos for a little better view.

Thanks, Sis!

SO COOL!! Where did she find it? She's a fabulous shopper.

I've been meaning to ask... are you at all close to the wierd blackbird deaths?

No, the bird thing happened in the central part of the state. I'm farther south. Happened again in Louisiana, too, but not as many birds. I'm not so sure about that "trauma from fireworks" explanation. The fish incident appears to be disease.

Solutions magazine, Quid. Loved the idea when I ran across it.

Glad you like it Sis! I did wonder if the fact you live in a more rural area might make for a more difficult puzzle.

Can't wait to see the finished product! :)

You're more than welcome!

I'm doing a jigsaw puzzle of the New York City skyline, and I think that's hard. This? Looks much harder.

Ooh this sounds difficult. I do hope you'll post a photo of the finished puzzle.

Kelly, you have the patience of a saint. I love the idea of the puzzle, but I'm afraid I'd be tossing pieces in the air in frustration! I can't wait to see it when you're done!!!

Love & Blessings,
Marion

What a fun gift!

I like jigsaw puzzles, but my dilemma is that if I spend a couple of nights with one, I won´t have anything to blog about ;D

I think that's a neat idea

Dorte - You could blog about your puzzle (with a photo)! I like seeing what other folks work.
