I would absolutely like to KICK myself!!! This is precisely why I don't need to drink, gamble, or play video games.
Today was our older daughter's birthday so we (my husband, son and I) met her and her family for dinner. The restaurant she chose is usually crowded on Friday nights, so we made it an early supper. That means I was home at a decent hour and had the evening free to do what I wanted.
I have a fun jigsaw in process. I'm in the midst of a good book. I have several magazines to read. I need to work on my Legacy Guide project. But what did I do?
I wasted my ENTIRE EVENING playing solitaire on my computer!!! Las Vegas rules. Lost every game. I can't remember when I've done anything so stupid! All I meant to do was check the weather radar and something made me click on "games". Big mistake.
As punishment I shouldn't allow myself to turn on my computer tomorrow. (yeah, right!)
*sigh*

I finally remove the installed solitaire game. It's the same reason I do not allow cookies into the house. Addiction!
Shall I slap your wrist for you? At this rate I could well persuade you to join us on Farmville - it can't be anymore addictive than solitaire ...... surely? (She says laughing)
A belated happy birthday to your daughter.
It's been awhile...
Since I indulged in ANY games on my computer. It's a good thing. I'm an addict. At least the early part of your night was social and satisfying!

I play one game of solitaire every day when I turn on my computer. My win rate is 30%. Ray says I should take a trip to the casino with my luck. LOL! I lost $20 once at the casino and won $150 on nickel slots the second time I went, so I quit while I'm still $130 in the black. That was years ago and as I recall, I bought a used washer with that money. Tee-Hee. Quit beating yourself up. If you enjoyed it, it was worth it. And it IS relaxing. Blessings!!
I also fall into traps of that kind now and then, and it may be a stupid waste of time. But now and then I know that I need time to relax and forget all about work, bills and obligations. So just like jigsaws are not a waste of time when you need to ´escape´, it may be good for your mind to play mindless games once in a while.
When I get the chance, which isn't often these days, I sometimes indulge in a night of doing nothing but watching TV while playing Scrabble Blast and Farmville on the computer.
It's a sanity-saving thing...
Farmville was getting to the addicting point until I stopped farming the boys' crops, too. I just let theirs lie fallow until FV is on their radar again...
LOL! Farmville has a tendancy to be VERY addicting!!! At least my time with Scrabble Blast or daily Crosswords has brain value.
Virtually harvesting crops and rearranging the farm is mor like playing dolls when I was a little girl. Mindless, but soothing, at times.
We all fall down these kinds of rabbit holes sometime!!! I "wasted" a few hours the other night playing Mario Brothers on the DS ...WHY?????
You know, I had a small experience with computer games, back in the Mario days. I did find myself getting 'hooked'. I quit playing. I sometimes play solitaire, and even then, I feel the pull...
Computers are both a blessing and a curse. I'm close to self-imposing a ban on the computer during daylight hours. I feel like I've wasted more than a few beautiful days.
