U.S. Geography

Give me a blank U.S. map and I can label all the states. Okay.... I'll admit I sometimes mix up New Hampshire and Vermont, but for the most part I know my geography. A friend sent me a map quiz this week and it ended up being more difficult than I expected. Land-locked states without border states for reference are tough and you have to hit them nearly dead-on to count as correct. Click on the map above to take the test. If you aren't happy with your results, try again. The states are doled out in a different order each time. My third time was the charm - a 98%. (I'm not telling how bad my first two attempts were!!)

We did the colored maps in 5th grade. I'm okay except for the New England states...the small ones. And please don't ask me to name the capitols!

I know I'd do better with state capitols than filling in the map! I'm too chicken to even try. :-) I bet you have a puzzle somewhere of the United States?! Love & Blessings!

Well, I decided to try once more and made 100% this time! How about that!

Geography - one of my worst subjects. On a map of the world, the only country I could label would be Italy. I wonder if they'll allow us to phone a friend in our quiz on a Sunday night as this is one of our weakest topics. Better still you could come and join us.

Now this was fun. First time I didn't know what to expect and just how exact you had to be and I missed the second state. I tried again and with a few lucky draws I managed to get 100%. I love geography and I am always amazed at the stupidity of so many people who have no clue where anything is on the map. How many times has someone told you they thought Arkansas was in the desert. I've had people in our home office in St Louis ask me exactly where is Little Rock and they are surprised when I tell them about 300 miles south of them. Remember, it was George Bush (41) who one told an audience that Arkansas was located between Oklahoma and Texas.

This is a great way to improve your USA map knowledge. I've taken it 3 times and improved to almost 100%. Now we need a puzzle like this for the world map!

Well, Mike, not everyone was grilled on their geography in the way that you grilled me when we were growing up! That's probably the ONLY reason I'm fairly good at it.

We all have our strong points and our weak ones.

I'm afraid of how bad I would do on this ... I know certain areas but there are others that are just a vague blur ... like almost the entire Midwest!

This was fun.. I missed a couple of states early on, but my average error was only 7 miles. It helps to have lived in different parts of the country!

90% with a 25mile average error. It's the ones in the middle, the square ones that throw me.
It's a good brain tease though. But I defy anyone to do the same with the States of the old USSR and there isn't a quarter as many.
