Another Monday Movie Matinee

Seeing The Incredible Hulk on the big screen was never in my plan. In fact, I didn't figure I'd even watch it on video. However, my daughter can be very persuasive. So.... once again we trekked to the movie theater yesterday afternoon, this time with more favorable results. Having seen the 70s TV show some, it was fun to see Lou Ferrigno in a small part (as well as a clip of Bill Bixby). All in all, it was a pleasant way to spend a few hours on a Monday afternoon.

While in WalMart yesterday, I saw a big display of their "green" shopping bags. I thought back to Quid's post from the other day and immediately felt guilty. I decided to buy a few and see just how much of my stuff I could fit into them. I think the only plastic we left with was the bag the saleslady insisted on putting my chicken in. The real test will be if I can remember to carry them back to use again next time!

With the exception of a few moments watching my favorite scene from Ben Hur (my loving husband knows to call me when that part comes on), I spent most of last evening reading. I finished The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield and thought it was quite good. Kind of a gothic novel/ghost story. There were parts I had figured out ahead of time, but still lots of good twists.

We ate our first tomato of the season in a salad last night! We have TONS that are still green. I'm just waiting.....

Hey Aunt Kelly,

It's Claire. I saw a link to your blog from my dads. It looks good. Ben Hur, I watched that movie in film lecture this past semester. I know my parents are still waiting on their tomatoes to ripen!

hope all is well!

Get ready... Batman is coming, and Heath Ledger is supposed to be phenomenal. I may take that day off work.

I loved the bag and will high tail it to Wal-Mart. I want to be an equal opportunity greenie and get my bags in various places. Having come to this bag conclusion, however, I must admit.

I MUST HAVE AND USE BIG BLACK PLASTIC BAGS FOR MY TRASH.

I am a relentless maker of trash, I have more trash than any person living alone (with three dogs and a part-time kid right now) has the right to have. I cannot use paper. I cannot possibly afford enough big trash cans, nor can I drag them to the curb.

Somehow, I will find a way to make my wanton use of plastic up to the world.

We loved HULK! It was fun to see Bill Bixby on TV, too! It was a fun movie. Loved the part with Ironman at the end.

We are drooling around here waiting for Batman!!! It does look sooooooo awesome!

I spent the day playing musical rooms with the boys. Room switch. Think I'll blog about it tomorrow....

Tonight my back is killin' me and I'm beat!

I see those bags at Wal-Mart all the time. Most of the time they just would'nt work. Maybe for short hauls..

Kelly, thanks for showing that we conservatives can also be environmentally conscious! That's why I have a big galvanized tub in my garage for the recylables. I make a pretty regular trip to the recycling center . . . and I generally vote REPUBLICAN!

Another conservative recycler here! The only bummer is that I used to use those plastic bags for garbage bags and now I have to buy garbage bags!

Here in France, several stores sell those "fold into itself" bags so I usually can keep one or two in my handbag.

I'm choosier than ever about what I'll go see on a big screen, even though I love seeing movies in a theatre.

HULK - I'll pass.
